Tony-winning actress Laura Benanti has been cast as the new fiancée of wife killer Colin Sweeney (Dylan Baker) on 'The Good Wife.'
TVGuide exclusively reports that Sweeney will return when Alicia (Julianna Margulies) attempts to represent him on a civil case. "They both get into a little legal trouble that Alicia is witness to," executive producer Robert King explained to the site. "[Alicia] has to play the part of a witness in a case."
There is not much information about Benanti’s character thus far, but executive producer Michelle King revealed that she’s “beautifully suited for Colin Sweeney.” Do we have a husband-killer on our hands? We might not have to worry about her demise, if she too, has the murderous inclination.
Benanti has most recently enamored critics and viewers with her dynamic performance as Elsa on ‘The Sound of Music Live!’ She is also known for her television roles on ‘Law & Order: SVU,’ ‘Go On,’ ‘Eli Stone’ and ‘Royal Pains.’
Her new on-air fiancée, Baker, has also delighted critics, earning two Emmy nominations for his work as Sweeney. Together, they will make a killer pair.
‘The Good Wife’ airs Sundays at 9/8c on CBS. Benanti’s episode will be directed by star Josh Charles, and is scheduled to air later this season in either late April or early May.
