The pilot scoop keeps on coming! From a ‘Psych’ star to an ‘American Dreams’ alum to a ‘Sleepy Hollow’ actor, among many others, here are the latest castings for upcoming pilots.
-‘Psych’ star James Roday won’t be out of work once his hit USA series ends after eight seasons, as he’s just been cast in the CBS pilot ‘Good Session,’ from ‘Chuck’s Matt Miller. Roday will topline the couples counseling comedy as Joel, a middle-school guidance counselor married to Lindsay. Their marriage becomes complicated once they discuss having children, but thanks to their painful and funny counseling sessions, they’re headed down the right path.
-Up next, we have the casting of ‘American Dreams’ alum Tom Verica (he also acts as ‘Scandal’s co-executive producer), who will star in ABC and Shonda Rhimes’ pilot ‘How to Get Away With Murder.’ Verica joins the thrilling legal series as Viola Davis’ character’s, Annalise Dewitt, hubby Tom, a psychology professor coming from a long line of academic royalty.
-ABC’s pilot ‘Agatha’ has just cast ‘Sleepy Hollow’s Clancy Brown (Sheriff August Corbin), The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Starring Bojana Novakovic and Aaron Ashmore, Brown will play the estranged and alcoholic father, Detective Hank McAuliffe, of Novakovic’s Agatha. Despite not having spoken in 15 years, the two must work together to solve a perplexing disappearance.
-NBC’s ‘Coercion,’ a drama revolving around a CIA analyst and war hero (Gavin Stenhouse) whose parents and sister are involved in a reactivated Russian sleeper cell, has added Morgan Specter (‘Person of Interest’) in the series regular role of Victor. He’s an appealing, intimidating and powerful man.
-Mehcad Brooks (‘Necessary Roughness’) has just landed a role in Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci’s CW pilot, ‘Identity.’ He’ll play Brennan, a driven, yet unorthodox, CIA agent who finds himself with a perfectly positioned but very green new asset in Mia (Ahna O’Reilly). The pilot also Matt Barr as Mia’s half-brother.
-Lastly, Alana de la Garza (‘Do No Harm,’ ‘Law & Order’) will take on the female lead in ABC’s drama pilot ‘Forever.’ Starring opposite of ‘Ringer’s Ioan Gruffudd (who plays NYC’s immortal star medical examiner, Henry), she’ll portray recovering alcoholic and recently widowed Detective Jo Martinez.
