The NBC singing competition 'The Voice' has declared a winner. After many weeks of backbitting, name-calling and downright mean comments about the Final Four, America can let out a sigh of relief. The singers took to the stage on Tuesday night hoping that they did what they do best, was enough for the judges and America. After a long wait, the winner of 'The Voice' 2012 is....Jermaine Paul! Yes, the former backup singer of Alicia Keys took home the $100,000 recording contract from Universal Records from the other 3 contestants. Chris Mann, the opera singer, came in 4th place, Tony Lucca, the former Mousketeer, came in 3rd place and Juliet Simms, the rocker, came in 2nd place.
Already though, the internet is going crazy for the reason that America may have gotten it wrong this time around. People were certain that Juliet Simms was a shoe-in to win this year or even the popular Tony Lucca. However, Jermaine's "I Believe I Can Fly" cover blew the audience away and turned things around for him. Blake Shelton, the coach of Jermaine, was proud of the singer as he recieved the highest amount of votes. One thing is for sure, Jermaine Paul isn't going to have to sing backup vocals for anyone anymore.
What do you think about the results? Did the right singer win the crown? Was this a way of showing the public that popularity willl only get you so far? With the many hints and suggestions from the judges, it was almost certain that another singer was going to take it this year. However, Jermaine showed what he was made of at the right moment. Congrats Jermaine, wishing you all the best in the music industry.
