Who’s ready for more casting scoop? Well, you’re in luck, because here’s a bunch of the most recent pilot news!
-Matthew Perry’s CBS ‘Odd Couple’ pilot has cast ‘Sean Saves the World’s Thomas Lennon as Felix Ungar, a neat freak whose compulsion to live in an orderly and perfect environment alienates pretty much everyone in his life. Perry will play easygoing Oscar Madison, in addition to co-writing and exec-producing the reboot.
-John Cho (‘Star Trek,’ ‘Sleepy Hollow’) has booked the male lead in ABC’s comedy pilot, ‘Selfie.’ In the comedy that’s a modern take on ‘My Fair Lady,’ Cho will play the self-assured, successful marketing expert Henry, who sets out to “remarket” the pilot’s leading lady Eliza Dooley (Karen Gillan).
-ABC’s Richard Lagravenese ‘Dangerous Liaisons’-esque pilot has added Oded Fehr (‘Covert Affairs,’ ‘NCIS’). Set in New York, the untitled project revolves around the love and rivalry between two powerful socialites, Philip Fitzgerald Julien (Rufus Sewell) and Margot Worth Cole. Fehr will play Anderson Cole, Margot’s billionaire ex-husband working on trophy wife No. 4. The project also stars Katie Holmes.
-Two ‘Royal Pains’ stars are joining TBS’ pilot ‘Your Family or Mine,’ The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Kyle Howard and Kat Foster will play married couple Oliver and Kelli, who quickly realize they didn’t just marry one another, but married both of their families. The series will alternate episodes between Oliver and Kelli’s families. Danny Comden (‘Dirt’) and Andrew Lees (‘Dance Academy’) also star in recurring roles.
-‘Enlisted’ actor Geoff Stults has booked the lead role in CBS’ odd couple comedy pilot ‘Cuz-Bros,’ from ‘Happy Endings’ David Caspe and Erik Sommers. It focuses on Stults’ Nick, a suave ladies man and Los Angeles TV sportscaster. Quickly, his life is turned upside down when his mess of a cousin needs a place to stay. This role will be in second position to Stults’ current gig on FOX’s ‘Enlisted,’ which if renewed means ‘Cuz-Bros’ will find a new leading man.
-S. Epatha Merkerson (‘Law & Order’) has joined NBC’s ‘Babylon Fields’ pilot. She’s nabbed the recurring role of Pearl Montoya, stepmother to Janine (Meagan Good). Originally developed and piloted at CBS, NBC is bringing back the project focusing on a town where residents are coming back from the dead.
