While he's come a long way from playing Paul Finch in 1998 teen comedy classic 'American Pie,' actor Eddie Kaye Thomas has still spent most of his career since then associated with comedy.
Thomas famously appeared in the 'Harold & Kumar' films, was a regular on FOX sitcom' 'Til Death' and HBO dramedy 'How to Make It in America,' and has been a regular member of the 'American Dad' voice cast since that show's 2005 premiere. That career trajectory makes it all the more surprising that the actor's next stop will be a CBS drama from the producers of 'Sleepy Hollow.'
From the producing team of Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci ('Sleepy Hollow,' J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek' films), 'Scorpion' revolves around an eccentric genius ('Body of Proof's Elyes Gabel) and his worldwide cabal of fellow geniuses that work to protect humanity from "the complex threats of the modern age."
Thomas is joining the regular 'Scorpion' cast as Toby, an expert behaviorist, and a member of Gabel's squad of super-geniuses. Even extending back to 'Pie,' Thomas has always had a natural ability to convey a certain level of intelligence in his roles, so playing a genius really shouldn't be too hard.
Jadyn Wong ('Being Erica') has also signed on to play another member of the team, a mechanical genius who can fabricate anything with surgical precision. Robert "T-1000" Patrick joined the cast about a week ago, and will play badass federal agent Cabe Gallo, who serves as a liaison between the crack team of geniuses and the U.S government.
