David Kohan and Max Mutchnick's barbershop pilot for TBS has found its clipsters. Ryan Pinkston ('Punk'd'), Matt Cook ('Harry’s Law') and Mike Castle have been cast as the multi-camera comedy's leads.
The still-untitled project from the 'Will & Grace' creators focuses on a group of kids from the same high school, who ran in different social circles at school, but they now find themselves working together at Buzzy's, a barbershop, in Charlestown, Mass. Sure, they've got other bigger dreams for themselves, but right now, their lives and loves, and all of its problems, continue to play out in the town they grew up in.
Pinkston plays Ben, the owner of Buzzy's, a miserly guy, who's always trying to squeeze that extra dollar out of his shop. Of course, he's unaware that his employees totally know what he's up to and despises him for it.
Castle, an alum of the L.A. Groundlings improv troupe, plays A.J. Salerno, a hairstylist at the shop, who was once the town's best hockey player, until a horrendous knee injury crippled his career. He still plays neighborhood hockey, though, and even thinks he might get that "second chance" to play pro (but that ain't happenin').
Cook, another Groundling, will play Mo, also a stylist at the shop and Ben's best friend. He's described as the opposite of Ben, which I can only imagine means he's a friendly, generous guy.
Kohan and Mutchnick’s KoMut Entertainment and Warner Horizon are producing.
