Macy Gray and Terrence Howard will reunite on the small screen!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Grammy winner Gray is slated to join FOX's pilot 'Empire.'
The new hip-hop drama stars Taraji P. Henson as Cookie Lyon, the ex-wife of Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), the head of the record label Empire Entertainment.
Enter Gray, who will have a recurring role as Tasha, an older woman exerting substantial influence and control over the Lyons' very young son, Hakeen Lyon (Bryshere Y. Gray aka rapper Yazz The Greatest), with whom she is having a scandalous affair.
The 'Empire' cast also includes regulars Malik Yoba, Kaitlin Doubleday, Trai Byers and Grace Gealy. Tasha Smith and 'Precious' star Gabourey Sidibe, like Gray, will also have recurring roles.
Since the project is all about music, Timbaland has also signed on as a songwriter/music producer for the original soundtrack. As of right now, it is unclear if Gray will contribute with her vocals. I hope she does.
Gray has previously starred alongside Howard in the film 'Cardboard Boxer.' Her other feature credits include 'November Rul' and 'Brotherly Love.' Her numerous TV appearances include gigs on 'Ally McBeal,' 'American Dreams,' 'That's So Raven,' 'Lakawanna Blues,' and 'Cold Case.'
As TVRage previously reported, the show comes from Lee Daniels and Danny Strong of ‘The Butler.’ Daniels is set to make his TV directing debut with the music project and Strong will pen the new drama.
