While 'Under the Dome' fans eagerly anticipate the resolution to the "pink stars are falling" cliffhanger that ended last summer's debut season, CBS continues to strategically leak Season 2 casting updates.
Next to experience life inside Stephen King's sinister round prison is country music legend (and occasional actor) Dwight Yoakam ('Panic Room,' 'Sling Blade'). Yoakam will portray Lyle Chumley, proprietor of Chester's Mill's resident barbershop.
As with most characters on the show, Chumley has a complex, not altogether pleasant history with town councilman and resident affably evil villain "Big" Jim Rennie. Lyle once had romantic ties to Jim's now deceased wife Pauline (Sherry Stringfield), and trusts the man about as far as he could throw him. Like Pauline, Lyle has a mysterious connection to the Dome, and may have insight into its origins.
Yoakam could most recently be seen on the small screen playing the recurring role of Bruce on Elijah Wood-fronted FX comedy 'Wilfred.' He is also set to appear in the star-studded Civil War miniseries 'To Appomattox,' set to hit the air in 2015.
'Under the Dome' Season 2 premieres Monday, June 30 at 10/9c. The episode is being penned by Stephen King himself, and will reportedly kill off two existing cast members. Hopefully it manages to satisfactorily resolve the loose ends left hanging by the critically panned Season 1 finale. Linda and Phil are my guesses for which two regulars will die, but that's obviously just pure speculation on my part.
