The CW's new pilot 'Identity' has found its matriarch. 'Brothers & Sisters' alum Patricia Wettig has signed onto the drama project from FOX's 'Sleepy Hollow' producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
The one-hour series centers on Mia (Ahna O'Reilly from 'The Help'), a young New Yorker who learns she needs an organ transplant to save her life and the only person who can help her is a newly-discovered half-brother, Davis (Matt Barr of 'Hatfields & McCoys'), the charming only son from a privileged and powerful family in Charleston.
If that wasn't complicated enough, Mia finds out the wealthy family is the target of a CIA investigation for domestic terrorism and the agency wants her to infiltrate their world as their informant. Obviously, Mia's loyalty and ethics will be put to the test as she struggles with turning in the very people who saved her life.
Wettig will play Liana Grant, the matriarch of the family. Aside from O'Reilly and Barr, she joins a cast that also includes Stephen Hagen ('Mistresses'), Mehcad Brooks ('Necessary Roughness') and Manish Dayal ('90210').
No stranger to television, Wettig earned three Emmy awards and a Golden Globe for her role as Nancy Krieger Weston on ABC's '80s hit drama 'Thirtysomething.' She also had a recurring role on ABC's 'Brothers & Sisters,' where she played Holly Harper, Rebecca's (Emily VanCamp) mother and the former mistress of Nora Walker's (Sally Field) husband.
