'American Horror Story' Season 4 Title Revealed, New Plot & Casting Details Uncovered

This fall, get ready to witness the most spectacular freak show on Earth!

As usual, 'American Horror Story' doesn’t disappoint and is gearing up to deliver what’s sure to be the most freakiest season yet…and we do mean that quite literally. Earlier today, show creator Ryan Murphy took to Twitter to announce the official title of the FX anthology’s fourth season: ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show.’ (Cue creepy circus music here.)

'American Horror Story' Season 4 Title Revealed, New Plot & Casting Details UncoveredGranted, this isn't too much of a surprise given how 'AHS' writer Douglas Petrie basically confirmed that the next installment would be set in a spooky carnival, but it's still pretty exciting to hear all the same. And by exciting, we, of course, mean terrifying.

But that wasn't the only juicy detail the show's creators decided to bestow upon its loyal horror fans. Entertainment Weekly exclusively learned some scintillating new details regarding this rather secretive season, including which former cast members are scheduled to return.

Set in Jupiter, Florida, in 1950, 'Freak Show' will find Jessica Lange playing a German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the United States. And who exactly is among her group of “unusuals”? Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy will all play performers whom Lange’s character has rescued.

Airing the show's standard 13-episode run, 'Freak Show' will track this group of misfits as they do whatever it takes to keep their business any means necessary. (Bring on the murderous clowns!)

Additionally, Denis O’Hare and Emma Roberts are also in talks to return, though nothing has been confirmed for either of them, just yet.

'AHS: Freak Show' will air in October of this year on FX.

I'd rather opt for Season 3 of HBO's "Carnivale". O.o

Freak Show, huh. I hope they tone down the comedy element, although freak show angle just basically means more clowns and other circus stuff and more funny ha ha. I wished they lived up to the name american HORROR story. Coven season was a real disappointment. Plot was a mess and there was just too much humor. Of course is Ryan Murphy's trademark, when things just go beyond haywire to the point of absurd, but I want real horror, scary stuff. Just look at the opening credits of season 3: Coven. That's creepy as hell, shame that the season itself was little bit of this and that, and overall just stupid, despite the good elements.

I just hope Freak Show isn't as pathetic as Coven.  That season was enough to put me off the series altogether.
