New ‘Gotham’ Photo: Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot

Holy photos, ‘Gotham’! That’s right, the FOX origin series has released another photo (which it will likely keep doing for each character), and this time around we have the chance to see Robin Lord Taylor as the infamous Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin.

Per the official network description, Oswald Cobblepot is said to have “the brains of a chess grandmaster and the morals of a jackal.” He also works for gangster Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith) and is known for hiding his “sadistic lust for power behind an exquisitely polite demeanor.”

Taylor isn’t the first man to play the villainous Penguin, as Burgess Meredith portrayed him in the 1960s ‘Batman’ TV series, while Danny DeVito played the evil character in the 1992 movie ‘Batman Returns’ alongside Michael Keaton and Michelle Pfeiffer.

In addition to The Penguin, ‘Gotham’ has also released photos of Donal Logue (‘Vikings’) as Harvey Bullock, Camren Bicondova (‘Battlefield America’) as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman and Sean Pertwee (‘Elementary’) as beloved butler Alfred Pennyworth.

To add to the list of names already mentioned, this is one cast full of familiar faces, including David Mazouz (young Bruce Wayne), Zabryna Guevara (Captain Essen) and Erin Richards (Barbara Kean).

As previously stated, ‘Gotham’ is an origin story following Jim Gordon (‘Southland’s Ben McKenzie) and the villains that made Gotham famous. Last September, the project was ordered straight to series, with ‘The Mentalist’s Bruno Heller writing the pilot and executive producing alongside ‘Nikita’s Danny Cannon.
