Matthew Modine is slated as a series regular in the TNT pilot ‘Proof,’ a supernatural medical drama executive produced by Kyra Sedgwick.
As TVRage previously reported, ‘Proof’ is written by Rob Bragin (‘Murphy Brown’) and directed by Alex Graves. The pilot focuses on surgeon Dr. Kathryn Russo (Jennifer Beals) who is described as "a skeptical, hard-science, brilliant female surgeon with a caustic edge who has been struggling with the devastating loss of her teenage son and a growing estrangement from her surviving daughter."
Eventually, she is persuaded to investigate supernatural cases, including reincarnations, out-of-body experiences and hauntings. Not only is she looking for verifiable proof to such mystical experiences, but she's also in search of an answer to one of life's greatest questions: "Is death truly the end, or is there something else beyond?"
Enter Modine, who will play Ivan Turing, a charismatic and eccentric multi-billionaire. Turing, facing terminal cancer, is willing to spend all his funds to solve the world’s most wondered question — is there life after death?
Best known for his role as Pvt. J.T. "Joker" Davis in ‘Full Metal Jacket,’ Modine is no stranger to the big and small screen. His film credits include the feature ‘Birdy,’ ‘Married to the Mob,’ ‘Any Given Sunday,’ in addition to TV projects such as ‘Flowers for Algernon,’ ‘The Bedford Diaries,’ ‘Weeds,’ and most recently, ‘CAT.8.’
‘Proof’ is still in development and without a scheduled premiere date.
