Uh oh! It looks like a love from Coulson's past is about to catch up with him. TVGuide.com exclusively reports that Amy Acker has recently landed what's looking to be a very a pivotal role on 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' later this season.
Appearing in at least one episode of the ABC series, the actress will play the part of Audrey — the famous cellist first mentioned in 'Marvel's The Avengers' as being the love of Phil Coulson's (Clark Gregg) life. But here's the kicker...she still doesn't know that he's actually alive.
As a talented musician turning heads in Portland, Audrey still believes Coulson to be dead and has no idea that he's guarding her from a distance as a super-powered threat from her past re-emerges. So something tells us that secret isn't going to remain buried for much longer.
Though she's remained nameless up until now, her character was referred to earlier this season when Raina (Ruth Negga) goaded Coulson by saying his former long-distance lover had cried for days after his death. Any guesses as to how that reunion's going to turn out?
But this isn't the first time Acker and Gregg have worked together. The duo also shared some screen time in executive producer Joss Whedon's 'Much Ado About Nothing' adaptation.
Currently starring on 'Person of Interest,' Acker is also well known for her roles on Whedon's 'Angel' and 'Dollhouse' series. Her other TV credits include stints on 'Once Upon a Time,' 'The Good Wife' and 'Alias.'
Acker's 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' episode is slated to air Tuesday, April 22 at 8/7c on ABC.
