That was quick. Just yesterday it was announced that ‘Smash’ alum Krysta Rodriguez would no longer be co-leading CBS' ‘How I Met Your Dad.’ Well, the comedy has already recast the role.
‘The Crazy Ones’ Tiya Sircar will take over for Rodriguez, who was originally set to play Juliet. Not only is Juliet sexy, but she’s also smart and flamboyant. Oh, and she’s best friends with leading lady Sally, played by Greta Gerwig (‘Frances Ha’).
So, why the recast? Apparently, Rodriguez was let go after the table read due to some tweaking needed for the character. Originally, Juliet was to be a successful fashion blogger, but now she will have a new workplace -- no word yet on said occupation.
The ‘How I Met Your Mother’ spin-off will follow Sally, a “female Peter Pan” who is thinking of ending things with her hubby Gavin (Anders Holm, ‘Workaholics’), and her group of friends in New York City. Other cast members include Nick D’Agosto (‘Masters of Sex’), Andrew Santino (‘Mixology’) and Drew Tarver (‘Upright Citizens Brigade’).
As for Sircar, she’s also starred in ‘Witches of East End,’ ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ ‘NCIS’ and ‘The Suite Life on Deck.’
Gerwig will also produce the comedy with writer-executive producers Emily Spivey (‘Up All Night’) and Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, both creators on ‘HIMYM.’ Pam Fryman, also from ‘HIMYM,’ will direct.
