‘Gotham’ Debuts First Look of Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon

In what is probably the most important photo of FOX’s origin series revolving around ‘Gotham’ city, we finally have our very first look at Ben McKenzie as Detective Jim Gordon.

‘Gotham’ Debuts First Look at Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon

As you can see from the photo, McKenzie stands in front of Gotham, while smoke and lights overcome the skyline best known for producing some of the most villainous criminals who eventually come face-to-face with everybody’s favorite (OK, my favorite) hero, Batman aka Bruce Wayne.

McKenzie, known for his roles on ‘Southland’ and ‘The O.C.,’ was first picked to star as Gordon in early February. Now, most of us are familiar with Gary Oldman portraying Commissioner Gordon in ‘Batman Begins,’ ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ so how will McKenzie fare? We’ll have to wait and see, but as long as we get to learn more about how Gordon comes to grow that famous mustache (like Oldman), I’ll be sure to tune in every week.

Like the photo above, ‘Gotham’ has also unveiled several other character portraits. So far, we’ve seen Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Sean Pertwee as beloved butler Alfred Pennyworth, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock.

‘Gotham’ was ordered straight to series last September. ‘The Mentalist’s Bruno Heller wrote the pilot, and ‘Nikita’s Danny Cannon will executive produce.

He was/is great in Southland, one of the best shows and I bet he'll be great here too. Tho I agree, he needs a mustache! :D

I have to say, while I thought he was too young for the role way back when his casting was first announced, he does look pretty appropriate here. Needs a mustache though. The stache is Gordon's trademark.
