Erin Cummings is set to join Odette Annable and JoAnna Garcia Swisher as a leading lady in ABC’s 10-episode summer drama series ‘The Astronaut Wives Club.’
The series, written by ‘Gossip Girl’s Stephanie Savage, is based on Lily Koppel’s best-selling 2013 novel. Director Nick Casavettes will help tell the true story of the women who encouraged some of the biggest heroes in American history during the pinnacle of the '60s space race.
As for Cummings, she will play Marge, the wife of one of the original NASA Mercury Seven astronauts, Deke Slayton.
Not only is Marge candid and funny, but she’s a woman who has a vivid past and isn’t afraid to break the “cookie-cutter” image the wives are supposed to present to the public eye. During the stressful events that the wives face, Marge’s motherly side ensures that she is the “glue that holds the wives club together.”
Cumming’s first launched her career on an episode of ‘Star Trek: Enterprise,’ however, you may remember her for her brief role as Candace, Don Draper’s illicit call girl on ‘Mad Men.’ (I personally have a hard time keeping track of Don Draper’s women.) Her more substantial credits include ABC’s ‘Detroit 1-8-7’ and CBS’ ‘Made In Jersey.’
On the feature film side, it certainly seems like Cummings is on a mission to create, as she has three upcoming projects, including ‘Cold Comes the Night,’ ‘The Last Word’ and ‘Late Phases.’
‘The Astronaut Wives Club’ will debut later this summer.
