Fans of “Parks and Recreation” could not wait for the unveiling of Tammy One after last season’s cliffhanger. No one could expect she would be the older and intimidating woman she is. Who else could possible make strong willed, authoritative Ron Swanson retreat back to a posh, childlike figure he is around Tammy One?
Patricia Clarkson recently told MTV News that she signed on as the guest star because it was a challenging role to play. "You know, I'm quite goofy, but I like doing characters that are a little bit of a stretch for me, and I do have a frightening aspect, and I think we all do as people,” she said. “I think we can all summon the devils and the demons when we want. I am so thrilled I did this.”
Devil is one way to describe Tammy One, who returned to Ron’s life looking for his gold. Viewers soon saw Ron wearing sweater vests and using manners. He even shaved off his MOUSTACHE! Despite the challenge, Clarkson felt the character was intimidating, so intimidating she almost backed out of the role.
"The lore that this character carries, the backstory - that was also intimidating, very intimidating to walk into that situation,“ she shared. “That also was what made me hesitant, but then I said, 'What the hell?' It was beautifully written and funny and perfectly etched. And I do really believe that this is one of the greatest shows ever. I do think it's an indelible cast of characters. It's just a superb show."
Could any other actress truly have pulled off the role of Tammy One?
