'How I Met Your Mother' may have taken its final bow last month, but Cobie Smulders isn't wasting any time getting back into the small screen limelight. TVLine exclusively reports that the actress has just signed on to make another guest star appearance in 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' later this season.
Airing on the April 29 episode, Smulders will reprise her role as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill, whose character was first introduced on the big screen in 'The Avengers' and again in the 'Captain America' sequel.
This will mark the first time Marvel fans have seen Smulder's Hill since the epic events of 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier,' which hinted at a brand new line of work for the fierce agent. So it'll be interesting to see what exactly she's been up to since then.
Though her character only appeared briefly in the ABC series’ pilot last fall, it's been confirmed that her upcoming return will feature Hill in a much larger capacity, though details regarding the actual plot remain pretty scarce. However, those hoping for a Coulson/Hill team-up will certainly get it, along with a ton of non-stop action.
But Smulders isn't the only 'Avengers' vet to reemerge on 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' Earlier this week, it was reported that Samuel L. Jackson will resurface as Nick Fury in the ABC drama's May 13 season finale.
'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC.
