Cobie Smulders to Return to 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'

'How I Met Your Mother' may have taken its final bow last month, but Cobie Smulders isn't wasting any time getting back into the small screen limelight. TVLine exclusively reports that the actress has just signed on to make another guest star appearance in 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' later this season.

Airing on the April 29 episode, Smulders will reprise her role as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Maria Hill, whose character was first introduced on the big screen in 'The Avengers' and again in the 'Captain America' sequel.

This will mark the first time Marvel fans have seen Smulder's Hill since the epic events of 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier,' which hinted at a brand new line of work for the fierce agent. So it'll be interesting to see what exactly she's been up to since then.

Though her character only appeared briefly in the ABC series’ pilot last fall, it's been confirmed that her upcoming return will feature Hill in a much larger capacity, though details regarding the actual plot remain pretty scarce. However, those hoping for a Coulson/Hill team-up will certainly get it, along with a ton of non-stop action.

But Smulders isn't the only 'Avengers' vet to reemerge on 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' Earlier this week, it was reported that Samuel L. Jackson will resurface as Nick Fury in the ABC drama's May 13 season finale.

'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on ABC.

"Samuel L. Jackson will resurface as Nick Fury" - spoiler alert much? As of the most recent episode, Fury's supposed to be dead.

I think its amazing that Marvel/ABC was not only keep the plot twist in the new Captain America movie a secret but were both able to do it without a single leak.

Last night's episode really was epic, even though ( any fan of the show or the new movie ) knew what was going to happen ( "Out of the shadows and into the light" ) I thought they revealed who was what last week.

The events in Ironman 3 make a great deal of sense now.  Guess what folks Tony was beause S.H.I.E.L.D was busy handling other things.  I wonder if there is some sort of easter egg in IM3 that revealed something about what was happening at S.H.I.E.L.D HQ.

The reason Nick Fury wasn't taking calls makes (some/more) sense now

This is great, but I'm more looking forward to Samuel L. Jackson showing up as Nick Fury.

She hasn't "just signed on" for anything. This is just a reveal of info, the rest of the season has already been filmed lol.
