It's a done deal: TNT has ordered 'The Librarians' straight-to-series. Based on the TNT movie trilogy, 'The Librarian,' the new project will star Rebecca Romijn, and feature original star, Noah Wyle, reprising his role as Flynn Carsen.
The new series, a 10-episode project, will focus on four people from around the world who are enlisted by Flynn as "librarians." But these aren't your typical "Shh! Be quiet!" type of librarians. No, these people are selected to work for the ancient organization of knowledge and heroism, which is called -- you guessed it -- The Library. The quartet will travel the world investigating bizarre occurrences and battling ancient conspiracies, all the while protecting our innocent Earth from the dangerous and secret world of magic.
Romijn will star as Eve Baird, a tough and highly skilled counterterrorism agent who is responsible for the group's protection and keeping them all alive. John Laroquette ('Night Court') also stars as the cantankerous Jenkins, an expert in ancient lore, who oversees the new team of the Librarians.
Rounding out the cast are Christian Kane ('Leverage', 'Angel'), Lindy Booth ('Dawn of the Dead', 'The Philanthropist'), and John Kim ('Neighbors', 'The Pacific'). Bob Newhart and Jane Curtin will also reprise their roles from the trilogy as Judson and Charlene, respectively.
Romijn, who's appeared on 'Burning Love' and 'Chuck,' had her last starring television role on TNT's 'King & Maxwell,' on which she played a secret agent, so, this role seems pretty tailored for her.
'The Librarians' will air in late 2014.
