‘Reign’s French Court is heating up, and we can thank Tahmoh Penikett for that. E! Online exclusively reports that the ‘Battlestar Galactica’ and ‘Supernatural’ actor is heading to CW’s royal series this May.
Penikett is taking on the role of John, who's visiting the French Court. Not only is he described as a “sexy nobleman,” but he’s also a mercenary for hire. Are things about to get even bloodier for Mary (Adelaide Kane), Francis (Toby Regbo), Bash (Torrance Coombs) and the others?
Well, according to Kane, "There's blood and guts and dying and fights and everything. Our last couple of episodes have these amazing battles, there's going to be returning heroes. There's going to be a couple of deaths, it's going to happen. We have some really, really big stuff coming up."
In addition to Penikett’s casting (side note: no word yet if he’ll be romancing anyone, so we’ll just have to tune in and see), E! also has an exclusive first look at his debut and a sneak peek at the rest of the freshman season. Check that out here.
Not only does the promo quickly showcase Penikett as John, but we all also see Francis taking charge of the troops, King Henry (Alan Van Sprang) planning war on England, Bash and Kenna (Caitlin Stasey) hitting the sheets, Mary crying in Francis’ arms and Catherine telling Mary they need to think like queens. The description doesn’t do it justice, so be sure to watch!
We’ll get our first glimpse of Penikett on May 1. ‘Reign’s finale is slated for Thursday, May 15 at its regular time of 9/8c on The CW.
