Will Simon Baker’s Patrick Jane be moving to a new network? With ‘The Mentalist’s renewal status in limbo, it looks like that just might be a possibility.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. TV, the studio behind the CBS drama currently in its sixth season, is “quietly” shopping around the series to other networks. Reportedly, TNT (which sporadically shows ‘Mentalist’ reruns), ION and ABC are considering picking up the Bruno Heller show.

The question of ‘The Mentalist’s future isn’t a new topic, as fans wondered if the show could survive without the major story arc of Red John, which is now dead and buried. Where can this type of show go without Jane hunting down the man responsible for the deaths of his wife and daughter?Furthermore, with the series jumping ahead two years, getting rid of the CBI and moving the characters to the FBI, and having Grace (Amanda Righetti) and Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) exit the series, it seems like an entirely new show, one which fans either love or hate.
‘The Mentalist’ still pulls in a built-in average of 11 million viewers, is the No.1 scripted series in France and even commands a high price for its off-network repeats, but with CBS having so many other successful shows (‘The Good Wife,’ ‘NCIS’, ‘Big Bang’), the network could easily ax the series.
So, if a new network does grab the 'The Mentalist,' leading man Baker has a deal lasting for only one more season, meaning the potential new network would have to renegotiate a new deal.
