Show Tidbits
Erle Stanley Garner, creator of Perry Mason, appeared in the final episode of the show as the presiding judge.
The show's catchy theme was composed by Fred Steiner, and was originall named "Park Avenue Beat."
In 1985, future Matlock creators Dean Hargrove and Fred Silverman brought back Raymond Burr as Perry Mason and Barbara Hale as Della Street for the TV movie Perry Mason Returns on NBC. The movie also starred William Katt, Barbara Hale's real-life son, as Paul Drake, Jr. (William Hopper, who played the elder Drake in the series, had died in 1970). The movie was so successful it led to 29 more from 1986 to 1995. The last movie to feature Raymond Burr was Perry Mason: The Case of the Killer Kiss in 1993; Burr died shortly after, and the remaining four movies were aired under the umbrella title A Perry Mason Mystery.
