Fred Savage was born near the windy city of Chicago, in Glencoe, Illinois on July 9, 1976 to real estate executive Lew Savage and his wife Joanne, who was a house wife. His parents were Jewish American, and had two younger siblings- actor
Ben Savage(Cory Matthews from
Boy Meets World), and not as well known actress
Kala. His first role was a character named Philip in the movie
Dinosaur. He starred in a few more movies, including
The Princess Bride in 1987. His big break didn't come until until 1988, where he landed the role as Kevin Arnold on the iconic show
The Wonder Years. He even got his first kiss in the second episode with co-star
Danica McKellar, who played Winnie Cooper, Kevin's main love interest. The show let Fred become the youngest person ever to be nominated for an Emmy Award. Not long after, he was one of the youngest host of
Saturday Night Live. In 1989, he co-starred with his brother Ben in the childrens movie,
Little Monsters. Fred graduated from Sanford University in 1999, where he got a degree in English, and was a part of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Fred has since guest starred in numerous shows, made a cameo in 2003's
Austin Powers in Goldmember, and starred in a few failed sitcoms, most recently
Crumbs. Fred has most notably found success in directing, a passion which started back in his
The Wonder Years days. Fred recently married his life-long friend
Jennifer Stone on August 7, 2004, at the L'Orangerie restaurant in Los Angeles, California. Jennifer is now pregnant and they're expecting their first child in August 2006. Fred keeps in touch with his former
The Wonder Years castmates, and hopes to continue his career as a director/actor.
