David Wheeler, now known as David Thewlis was born in 1963 and was raised by his parents - the owners of a combination wallpaper and toy shop in Blackpool. Originally planning to be a musician, David travelled to London with his band Door 66, however he later changed his plans and entered the Guildhall School of Drama to work on his new interest in acting. At first, he mostly had minor roles in films and television until he landed the main role in the film Naked in 1993. The film ended up winning him several awards including the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival. He has since been in many other films including Dragonheart, Restoration, 2006's The Omen and recently took the part of Professor Remus John Lupin in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
David lives with girlfriend actress Anna Friel, they have been together since 2001 and they now have a child together. Daughter Gracie, born on July 9, 2005.
