Adrian Monk has many clinical mental disorders from a variety of phobias dye to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Despite this, he is an excellent detective who is always able to solve a case. He uses a combination of observing small clues, photographic memory, and logical reasoning to solve the case. He is a former member of the San Francisco Police Department until his wife's untimely death, this gave him his OCD which caused him to be fired from the police department. He now works as a private consultant to the police department, to lend a helping hand when he is needed.

An eccentric novelist, Ian Stark shot to fame overnight with his first novel, "Below Ground." Now he spends his days working on his second novel... and tormenting his editor Henry. He's fond of outrageous practical jokes and enjoys singing in bars, dancing on ledges and doing anything else he possibly can to make Henry crazy.
