Sam Troughton comes from an acting background. His grandfather was Patrick Troughton (Dr Who) and also played Robin Hood on TV, and his father David Troughton has appeared in many roles on TV. After guest roles on TV, he moved into film appearing as Tom Hadley Clarke with Gwyneth Paltrow and Daniel Craig in Sylvia (2003), David in Mike Leigh's Vera Drake, the blockbuster Alien v Predator (as Thomas Parks) and more recently in Spirit Trap as Nick with Billie Piper.
Before appearing in Robin Hood, Sam's last TV role was as Jez Heriot in Hex (2004-2006)
Sam has appeared regularly in Theatre at both the National and for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
