Alison Sweeney

Born in Los Angeles, California on September 19th, Alison Sweeney has an older and younger brother. She is the only daughter of their violinist mother and business investor father. Growing-up in a musical household, Sweeney tried following in her mother's footsteps with the violin. It wasn't long before she realized that her true calling was acting. At the age of four, Sweeney began appearing in television commercials for products such as Kodak Film. At six, she appeared on Days of Our Lives for the first time in the role of Adrienne for two days of flashback sequences. Starring roles on Simon & Simon, Webster, St. Elsewhere, Family Man, Brand New Life, I Married Dora and Tales from the Darkside followed soon after. In Dyan Cannon's feature film The End of Innocence, Sweeney played the role of Stephanie and she also starred as Alice in the film The Price of Life.

On January 6th, 1993, Alison Sweeney joined the cast of the Emmy Award-winning, NBC-TV series Days of Our Lives as Samantha Gene Brady -- the scheming, sassy, clever, and sometimes dangerous daughter of Dr. Marlena Evans.

In addition to her role on Days of Our Lives, Alison has also appeared on shows such as Friends, Fear Factor and has made numerous appearances on Soap Talk.

Away from the television and film studios, Sweeney leads an active and health-conscious lifestyle. Her passions are swing dancing and riding her horse Apparition (nick-named Ghost). She also attends Boot Camp several times a week to stay in great shape. An extensive traveler, Sweeney has developed an appreciation for various cultures and speaks semi-fluent Spanish. When she has the opportunity to travel, her ideal destinations are Italy, France, and anywhere she can find a ski slope. Sweeney married her childhood sweetheart, Dave, who is a California Highway Patrol Officer.

In 2004 Alison Sweeney released her book All The Days Of My Life (So Far) on Kensington Books. In the book Ali talks about growing up as an actress, living in Los Angles, going to school, dating and marriage, weight struggles and more.

She took Days of our Lives co-star Bryan Dattilo to her senior prom.

She has two children, a son, Benjamin and a daughter, Megan.

Alison is a middle child, one older brother and one younger brother.

Alison is a big fan of the Harry Potter books and movies.

Alison is friends with figure skater Scott Hamilton and his wife, Tracie.

Alison has publicly struggled with her weight, and though she was never more than fifteen pounds above average, she lost out on many roles because of her size.

Alison plays basketball with past and present Days of Our Lives co-stars, such as James Reynolds (Abe).

In 1997 there was an article in Tv Guide proclaiming that Alison was "breaking all the rules" and that her "appeal was both surprising and encouraging."

Growing up, the Sweeney siblings had a system for keeping each other in line. The elder sibling(s) would tell the younger one that he or she had been left at the Sweeney home by gangsters; and that if the younger sibling didn't behave, the elder sibling would take him/her back to prison.

Alison and Days of Our Lives co-star Christie Clark (ex-Carrie) were filming a scene in which Carrie had to slap Sami, but instead of faking the shot, Christie accidentally hit Alison quite hard. She fell backwards into the piano and was completely surprised. This was the cut that ended up being aired.

Alison Sweeney Quotes
Alison: At 16, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I'm on Days of Our Lives.' Looking back, I can admit it was more the thrill of my job that kept me working at it. I've gotten past the novelty of being on TV. I've worked a lot all my life, but it was a sign that I was finally succeeding, and that was what kept me going.
