Jane Kaczmarek was born on December 21, 1955 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is best known for his role of Lois, the "angry mom" in Malcolm in the Middle.

She first studied theatre at the University of Wisconsin, where she met Tony Shalhoub. She later studied theatre in Yale University. Tony Shalhoub also enrolled in Yale. They had several hits in Broadway.

In 1982 she made her debut in television in "For Lovers Only", a failed pilot. The next year she had a role as a nurse on "St. Elsewhere". She had several roles at movies, but they weren't very successfull. She was feautured in several series, but most of them were short and unpopular. She had some guest star roles in "L.A. Law" and "Law & Order". After that she had more important roles in several movies which were more succesful than the 1st ones.

Kaczmarek gained a lot of popularity with her role in Malcolm in the middle as the not-so-nice mom, and a bit more of popularity making voices in "The Simpsons". Her role as Lois had a great
