Jim is a major baseball aficionado.
 
Jim landed his pivotal Wiseguy role as Lifeguard 15 years to the day that he lost both legs in an automobile accident Feb. 26, 1972.
 
Jim is a highly regarded Blues & Gospel artist.
 
In 1981, Jim formed the blues group, The Jim Byrnes Band, began playing dates throughout Canada, and has become a staple of the Vancouver music scene.
 
Jim got bitten by the acting bug at the age of 15 when he did Shakespeare in the Park in St. Louis.
 
Jim still uses his favourite guitar, a Gibson 1969 Hummingbird. He received the guitar as a child.
 
By age thirteen Jim was singing and playing blues guitar.
 
Jim once worked as a professional shepherd.
 
Jim almost became a Catholic priest.
 
Jim won a Juno award (Canada) for Best Blues/Gospel Recording in 1995 for his album That River.
