James Rhodes is Tony Starks' best friend and personal bodyguard. As part of Stark's security system, Tony created another armor for Jim, similar to Iron Man's, only it's black and white and it's got greater weapon arsenal. Jim also keep his identity in armor a secret and calls himself War Machine. Later in the show, Jim started to suffer of claustrophobia when he wears armor and since then he uses it only in "matter of life and death" situations.
Jim is Tony's best friend and because of that friendship he is one of the only Force Works members who remained with Stark after their disbanding.

Jim Tate started off as a very successful character in Batman Beyond. He was rich, he just married a beautiful woman, and he just got a stepson. However, Jim’s family began to loose it all when the company had downsized, and he had nothing. After being laid off, Jim found himself in the field of a bank robber. Jim became good at what he did and he began to call himself “Armory.” He had many high-tech weapons in his arsenal which helped him escape in many bouts he had with the Dark Knight.

However, Jim saw the error in his ways and he gave himself up to Batman.
