Amityville’s Taking Back Sunday introduced themselves to the music world in 2001, with a five track EP that wasn’t met with much attention. The band took a year to promote themselves and went on tour with such bands as Alkaline Trio and At The Drive-In. Afterwards, the band signed to Victory Records and worked with their producer Sal Villanueva to release their first album, Tell All Your Friends. After the release of their debut album, guitarist John Nolan left the band with bassist Shaun Cooper, and were replaced by Fred Mascherino and Matt Rubano.
2004 saw the release of their second album, Where You Want To Be. They also opened for blink 182 and headlined the Warped Tour.
The band’s 2006, Louder Now, would be the last to feature Fred Mascherino's backing vocals and guitar, who left in 2007. Matt Fazzi was announced as Mascherino's permanent replacement and will be featured on the band's next album, for which a release date has not been set.

Taking Back Sunday Trivia |
| |
The band often disputes the common "emo" classification given to it by the public. Said John Nolan on the subject, "I've said it many times before... I think it's a ridiculous term and it's basically a meaningless thing." |
