Jean-Jacques de Mesterton’s novel, The Succession, was inspired by his personal dealings with professional soldiers, tycoons, princes, thieves, and intelligence operatives. Though born in Finland, Jean-Jacques lived in southern France until he was twelve. De Mesterton was an American advisor to Paris mayor Jacques Chirac, when he campaigned for the French presidency, in 1981. During the Eighties and Nineties, he did fundraising for the arts, and was a director of a manufacturers' representative firm in Paris. Jean-Jacques then hosted a popular call-in talk show at KOA Radio in Denver, Colorado. Working as an international business advisor, he served as one of two envoys for the Tissot Foundation, which applied high-tech solutions to problems in second- and third-world countries.
