In 1989 he began wrestling in the ESPN Sports sponsored AWA (American Wrestling Association), when it folded in 1990 he wrestled in both the GWF (Global Wrestling Federation) based out of Dallas, Texas & MPW (Michinoku Pro Wrestling) in Japan. |
While in the GWF he won the GWF Light Heavyweight Championship and was in a feud that lasted almost 2 full years there against The Lightning Kid (Sean Waltman). |
In 1995 he appeared for the first time in WCW wrestling under a mask as “Mr. J. L.” but his stay there was short lived as he was fired for unspecified reasons by Eric Bischoff. |
Jerry had some dark matches in the WWF in 1997 and one against Taka Michinoku who beat him on “WWF Monday Night Raw” on 25 August. |
On 5 September 1997 he made his way to ECW for the first time and in late 1998 began a long running feud with Rob Van Dam who called himself ‘The Whole F’n Show”, so to mock Rob, Jerry began calling himself “The New F’n Show”. |
He remained in ECW until his final appearance on 7 January 2001 at the Guilty as charged” pay-per view where he & his partner Cyrus beat Christian York & Joey Matthews but he had met with Jim Ross prior to his last matches in ECW. |
Ross & Lynn began their negotiations on 28 November 2000 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and he signed a 1-year WWF deal making his 1st appearance on “WWF Sunday Night Heat” on 29 April 2001 where he pinned Crash Holly for the Light-Heavyweight title. |
In late 2001 Jerry was released from his WWF contract for unspecified reasons and he took some time off until he next appeared in the WWA on 24 February 2002 but his stay there was very short as he returned to TNA on 19 June 2002. |
