Ed Helms is an actor and comedian most notable for his work as a correspondent on Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Helms is sometimes confused with Stephen Colbert because both played the same type of role and some viewers believe the two look like one another. Also, his uncanny resemblance to C-SPAN announcer Steve Scully has has sometimes left viewers unsure as to whether they are watching real or fake news. Ed Helms delivers the shocker on The Daily Show in a segment which made multiple allusions to "the taint"Helms was born in Atlanta, Georgia, graduating from the prestigious Westminster Schools in 1992 before attending Oberlin College in Ohio. He has had roles in shows like Tanner on Tanner, and various Comedy Central specials, as well as movies like Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story (alongside his fellow TDS correspondent, Rob Corddry). He has also made guest appearances in a number of television shows, including Arrested Development. He also voices "Angel," a character on Cartoon Network's "Weighty Decisions" series (again alongside Corddry), and has done prolific commercial voiceover work, including campaigns for Burger King, Doritos and the asthma medication Advair. In his tenure on The Daily Show, Helms has contributed many field reports, in addition to hosting various sections of the show, such as Digital Watch. He has also contributed to the This Week in God segment. He appears on The Colbert Report occasionally, narrating the "Prescott Group educational films." On April 29, 2006 Helms attended the Washington Correspondents Dinner as the guest of The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. In late July 2006, NBC announced that Helms would be joining the cast of The Office in a recurring role as Jim's smarmy colleague Andy at the Stamford branch of Dunder Mifflin for at least ten episodes of the upcoming third season.
