Angels and Airwaves is an alternative rock group formed in 2006. They have released their album We Don't Need To Whisper, which has gone platinum in the UK and has received Gold in the US. After releasing the album, they completed there first tour with headliners Taking Back Sunday.
We Dont Need To Whisper recieved mixed reviews from critics, and fans of Blink-182 alike. Some good reviews suggested that the new "concept album" style of Tom Delonges suits Angels and Airwaves perfectly, and that he has outdone himself. Bad reviews suggested that the style did not suit Delonges Vocal structure or Persona, and that a man bent on diluting the already toned down fart joke, shouldnt be in a Alternative, almost U2 sounding Rock Band.
Although the album did recieve mixed reviews, it still was awarded more awards than any of Tom Delonges other albums with any previous band. Awards stretch from "Best Editing and Effects" to "Best Live Act". Ryan Sinn, the original Bass Guitarist for the group and Backup Vocalist, departed from the band early 2007. It was said that he had a concluding call from the band, breaking his status with them, and thus being kicked out of the band.
I-Empire was leaked on the 25th of October 2007. The album since then has recieved a warm welcome compared to We Dont Need To Whispers mixed responce. Points taken about I-Empire was Tom Delonges songwriting abilities, the "anthem" song of the album, Secret Crowds, which reviewers believe was better than there last anthem song, The War, and altogether better songs have given I-Empire a warm welcome into the album charts in America, Europe and Australia alike. They also recently released a documentary titled "Start The Machine". It talks about the breakup of Blink-182, the genesis of Angels and Airwaves, and the recording process of We Dont Need to Whisper, among other such topics.
