Jensen was born in Montgomery, Alabama but raised in Wisconsin. She attended Boston University earning a degree in music theory.
Jensen's first soap opera role was as Sarah Gordon on One Life to Live in 1987. She is best known for the part of Victoria Hudson on Another World who first started playing in 1991. She also played Victoria's twin sister Marley on the show too. Jensen was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress at the Daytime Emmy Awards in 1996 and 1997.
After Another World's cancellation in 1999 she transfered the character of Victoria to the soap opera As the World Turns. In 2001 she joined the cast of General Hospital playing the role of Melissa Bedford. She left the role in 2002.
Jensen married Gray O'Brien in December 1991 and the couple have two children.
