Antonio Salvatore Iadanza was born on April 21, 1951 in Brooklyn, New York. His father, Matteo was a garbage man in New York City, and his mother, Anna, was an immigrant from Sicily. Danza and his family lived in Brooklyn until they moved to Malverne, New York, when Danza was a teen. He graduated from Malverne High School. He then got a wrestling scholarship to the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in History Education.
Shortly after college graduation, Danza worked as a professional boxer, with a 9-3 record. He gave up his boxing career when he was cast as Tony Banta on the hit show, Taxi. The role made him famous, and he followed it up by starring on another hit sitcom, Who's the Boss? Besides those main roles, he’s done films and guest spots, including one on The Practice, for which he was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1998. He recently hosted his own television talk show, though it ended in May 2006.
Danza has been married twice, the first time to his college girlfriend, Rhonda Yeoman, in 1970, and together they had a son, named Marc Anthony Iadanza. The couple divorced in 1974. He married Tracy Robinson in 1986, with whom he has 2 daughters, named Katherine Anne and Emily Lyn. He and Robinson are separated. Danza is also a grandfather, as his son’s wife had a baby in 2005.
