Dani Sutherland moved to Summer Bay with her family in 2000, she got together with Will Smith after she accidently thought her fancied her friend. Dani and Will's relationship came under threat when it was revealed that will's ex Gypsy Nash was in love with him and Will and Gypsy then had a one night stand. Dani was later raped by bad boy Kane Phillips when their flirting got out of hand, she took him to court where he was found not guilty making it look like Dani asked for it. Dani was then shocked to discover the her sister Kirsty was seeing Kane behind she and her family's backs. Dani then got together with the new boy in town Josh West but when their relationship came to an end it was scott Hunter who came into her life riding along the beach on a whith horse. Things were going great between Dani and Scott but Kane then returned to get back with Kirsty and one stormy night Dani shared a kiss with one of her university teachers - Ross McLuhan who she had been developing feelings for her and after the kiss, upset Dani was driving in the rain and hit something which she thought was an animal so she left the scene and later discovered it was Kane, she appeared in court and was found guilty. In prison Dani got on the wrong side of the top dog known as 'The Guv' but they soon became friends after discovering 'The Guv' knew Alf Stewart years before and that they had a child together. Dani was soon released from prison. Back at Uni Dani decided to write an article criticising fellow student Felix Walters, Felix then started stalking Dani and even sent his girlfriend Sarah Lewis, dressed as a police woman to tell Dani thet Scott had been killed in a boating accident, Dani discovered it wasn't true and Felix was behind it, so when Felix was violently attacked and later died in hospital, Dani was immediatly a suspect, but Dani did actually have a part in it because it was a letter she wrote to 'The Guv' that caused it, it was 'The Guv' who sent someone to attack him. After Felix's death Dani and her friends and family became the target of Felix's girlfriend Sarah who accused one of them of his death, but it was actually Sarah who killed him. After the attack Sarah went into the hospital and injected him with crystal meth thinking it would make him better but Sarah, being on the drug herself can't remember doing that and took revenge on Dani and the people close to her, weeks of stalking and torment led to a final climax at Leah Patterson's house as all Dani's friends and family were hiding out there where Sarah killed Noah Lawson and then herself. Dani finally said yes to Scott's second marriage proposal as she did say no to the first one, but the engagement didn't last long when 'The Guv' was released from prison and was dying and wanted Dani to write her memoirs which didn't go down too well with Scott as he was led to believe she was having an affair with the publisher, Stafford McRae. Dani was then forced to choose between Scott and the book, thats when she decided to leave him. Dani left Summer Bay leaving her family and friends behind.
