Not only well known for his contributions building the modern DC Comics cartoon franchise, but also a famous cartoon series animator. Born in 1961, he was practically born with a pencil and pad in his mouth. Timm had no help in his art, but has cited influences from many artists including Jack Kirby, Harvey Kurtzman, Wally Wood, Alex Toth, Frank Frazetta, Dan DeCarlo, Jim Steranko, and John Buscema.
In 1981, Timm was given his first animation job with Filmation Studios as a layout artist for Blackstar. He joined Don Bluth Productions as an assistant animator for the feature film The Secret of NIMH in 1982. When that was finished, Timm returned to Filmation to work on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Timm joined Marvel Productions, doing character and prop designs for GI Joe in 1984. From there he went back to Filmation and worked on She-Ra Princess of Power. Timm worked as a character designer on The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse in 1987, for Ralph Bakshi Productions. In 1988, he worked for DIC on The Beany and Cecil Show, which was his first acting gig.
Bruce joined Warner Bros. in 1989 as a storyboard artist and character designer for Tiny Toon Adventures. Bruce heard of a new Batman cartoon that Warner Bros. was planning, so he prepared a few designs of Batman and characters, then presented them in the next production meeting. With those designs, he became a co-creator and producer for Batman: The Animated Series, which premiered in 1992, the time of the Tim Burton's Batman Returns. That series led to Batman Gotham Knights (also known as The New Batman Adventures), which was set two years after the end of B:TAS. That series aired along side the previously premiered Superman: The Animated Series, of which he was the co-creator. He then became co-creator of Batman Beyond, a series that featured a new person under the Batman mask, in 1999. He finally stepped up and became series creator, and producer, of Justice League (currently Justice League Unlimited).
