Sublime was formed in 1988 in Long Beach, California by Brad Nowell (vocals and guitar), Bud Gaugh (drums), and Eric Wilson (bass guitar). In 8 years, the band only released three albums and didn't find success on the charts until 1996 with their release of Sublime, which went 5 times platinum on the charts. Before the release of Sublime, lead singer Brad Nowell passed away following a heroin overdose. After his death, the band fell apart before the release of Sublime, but they released the album despite the ending of the band and the death of the lead singer.
