Adam Richard Sandler was born on the 9th September 1966 in Brooklyn, New York to Jewish parents. Raised in Manchester, New Hampshire, he started his career in the mid 80s by appearing as "Smitty" in The Cosby Show. He also made appearences on MTV's game show Remote Control.
Sandler performed stand-up in local Boston clubs. There, he was discovered by Saturday Night Live comedian Dennis Miller. Miller recomended him to SNL producer Lorne Michaels. Hired as a writer for "SNL" in 1990, he joined the cast the following year. Sandler became a fan favorite by performing original songs such as The Chanukah Song.
Sandler left SNL in 1995 to persue a movie career. His first starring role in a movie was playing the title character in Billy Madison. He starred in other movies such as The Wedding Singer and Happy Gilmore, but Sandler became a box-office star in 1998 with The Waterboy. Many critics anned his early movies, but the audiences fell in love with him.
Sandler married model Jackie Titone. The couple has one daughter Sadie Madison Sandler.
