Blake Colin Lewis was born July 21, 1981. He is the only child of Dallas and Dinah Lewis, a contractor and a musician, respectively. Blake grew up in Bothell, WA and was a member of a youth choir that traveled throughout Europe until his voice changed. He began beat boxing during his senior year of high school. He was a member of the a capella singing group Kickshaw before becoming the solo performer known in the Seattle underground hip-hop scene as Bshorty. He auditioned for season 6 of American Idol on a whim, when a friend called him and said that he should do it. When the AI competition was over, he had earned second place.

I love Jordin Sparks, so regardless of the finale, I think she already won it in my mind. She was my pick in the beginning.
