Band History:
Disturbed formed in Chicago in 1996. Dan Donegan, Steve "Fuzz" Kmak, and Mike Wengren had been friends for a long time, but lacked a singer to front their band. After holding auditions they found David Draiman. The friends instantly fell in love with Draiman's spirit and talent, and soon the band was born. After working out their music and spending three years playing at clubs in Chicago, Disturbed was ready to make its move. In 1999 the band recorded two separate EPs and sent them out to different record companies in hopes of showing their talent and dedication to music. Soon the band was signed and released its first hit single, "Stupify", and their first album, "The Sickness".
The band gained large amounts of success off of this album, so much so that they were invited to perform at Ozzfest in 2001. Following this they started on their
Music as a Weapon Tour. Building on this success the band soon released its second album, "Believe", in 2002. "Believe" debuted at number one and their single, "Prayer", enjoyed large amounts of radio play. This soon came to a halt when the video for the song was banned from being shown on TV. The video featured a scene where a city is being destroyed by an earthquake, and the video was removed from television because people felt the image was too close to the events September 11, 2001.
The band was invited to participate in Ozzfest yet again in 2003, but it was not a happy year for the band. Following Ozzfest, bass player Steve Kmak left the band. The band tried out Matt Konopinski, but he was soon replaced with John Moyer. In 2004 the band set out on their second
Music as a Weapon Tour which produced success for the band.
In 2005 the band released their third album, Ten Thousand Fists, which debuted at number one. They soon began touring, but had to cancel in Europe because singer David Draiman was having vocal issues which required surgery. After his surgery, Disturbed came back as strong as ever in 2006 and set out on their third
Music as a Weapon Tour, and headlined Ozzfest with the band System of a Down.
