Tony Stark is the owner of Stark Enterprises - the worlds largest weapon manufacturing company. He was kidnapped by the Mandarin and in the process, his heart was injured. Mandarin forced him to work with Dr.Yinsen in order to create an invincible armor with which the Mandarin would conquer the world. Yinsen and Stark successfully designed the armor, but they wanted to use it in order to escape from Mandarin. Yinsen sacrificed his life in order to give Stark time to don the armor and escape from Mandarin letting him believe that Stark and the man in armor are two different persons. Stark kept his identity as Iron Man secret. He formed an alliance with other superheroes - War Machine, Spider-Woman, Hawkeye, Scarlet Which and Century , and together they were called Force Works. But Stark soon started to work individually so often that the others lost trust in him and eventually they ended an alliance with him.
Stark use his Iron Man identity to fight Mandarin and other super villains who would like to steal some of Stark's inventions or secrets.
