Coy Luther "Luke" Perry III was born on October 11, 1965 in Mansfield, Ohio. His father is Coy Luther Perry Jr., and his mother’s name is Ann Bennett. He grew up in Fredericktown, Ohio, south of Mansfield, and graduated from Fredericktown High School where he was voted "Biggest Flirt".
Perry had a short stint as Ned Bates on the daytime drama, Loving, from 1987-1988, and another as Kenny, on Another World from 1988-1989. His big break was when he was cast as Dylan McKay on the teen show, Beverly Hills, 90210, a role he played from 1990-2000. He got his first big movie role as Oliver Pike, Kristy Swanson’s sidekick in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992). He has made other movies, and has starred in several theater roles.
Perry has done guest spots on many shows, including Spin City and What I Like About You, as well as voice work on Family Guy and The Simpsons.
Perry married Rachel “Minnie” Sharp in November of 1993, and they had two children together, a son, Jack, and daughter, Sophie. The couple divorced in 2003.
