played Lane Kim in Gilmore Girls

Lane Kim was born and raised in Stars Hollow under the roof of a very conservative, Korean family (though Mr. Kim is never seen during the series). Though her parent(s) strictly prohibit Lane from doing much of anything that isn’t related to church or helping in the family-owned antique shop, Lane has a love for all things music. With the help of her best friend Rory, as well as Lorelai and strategically placed faux floorboards, Lane was able hide her love of music and expansive non-Christian book and CD collection from her mother, and even managed to be the drummer in a rock band, Hep Alien, undetected for a short while.

Lane’s original bandmates included Dave Rygalski, Brian, and Zach and they frequently practiced in Lorelai’s garage. After a short while, a romance blossomed between Dave and Lane which they had to hide from their band mates, fearing that their relationship might tear the band apart. Despite Mrs. Kim’s strict rules about Lane dating, Dave was able to convince Mrs. Kim to let him take Lane to her senior prom which led to their relationship being exposed to their bandmates. Their relationship ended when Dave left Connecticut for California in order to attend college. Dave was replaced by Gil, a married, older man and the band continued to play.

After high school, Lane attended a small Seventh Day Adventist college. Her double life ended when Mrs. Kim found Lane’s secret stash of CDs, clothes, and books Lane was forced to come clean to her mother about being in a band. She moved out of the house shortly after and soon moved in with bandmates Brian and Zach. Since then, Mrs. Kim has been less judgmental of the lifestyle Lane has chosen to lead, and has even help the band schedule a tour hosted by Seventh Day Adventist churches.

Months after moving in with Brian and Zach, Lane began to develop feelings for Zach. She told him that she liked him and wanted to be more than just friends with him, leading to the two become a couple. After a brief break-up, Zach went back to Lane and asked her to marry him. They wed near the end of season 6, eager to start their lives together and somehow get their band into the spotlight.
