Birth Place: San Francisco, California
Date Of Death: July 09, 2007

Charles Lane is one of the most recognizable character actors in the history of film and television. He has a career spanning 6 decades and has appeared in over 150 movies and hundreds of TV roles. His movie career includes acting in many Frank Capra films, including the classic Christmas motion picture "It's A Wonderful Life" as mean spirited banker Henry Potter's right-hand man. Charles' many TV credits include a number of guest spots on all of the Lucy Ball comedy shows. But his most recognizable role may be as J. Homer Bedloe on Petticoat Junction and his constant efforts to shut down the Cannonball Railroad. One of the most requested character actors of all time, Charles would some days go from one set to another, acting in more than one role in the same day. Although he always played a crusty, mean-hearted man, he was also known as the complete opposite in real life. Charles was honored on his 100th birthday at the TV Land Awards.
