I met Josie on a visit to Catalina Island off the coast of L.A. in Spring of 1961. I returned to New York City, she to her home in Long Beach, CA. She later moved to NYC to be with me where we agreed to a Common-Law marriage and to move to Hawaii, which we did in Fall of 62. She got a job in Honolulu and soon was accepted into the Polynesian dance troop performing at The International Marketplace. Her skill at dancing, especially Tahitian, developed to the point of her winning a Tahitian dancing contest where she placed second out of dozens of entries. The woman who took top prize was born and raised in Tahiti.
Josie appeared on the cover of the Hawaiian Telephone Directory, danced with troops at Midway Island and Forbidden City Night Club, and numerous Honolulu, and California venues. Josie was was chosen by Don Over, a local magazine publisher and entrepreneur, to star in his "Tihati" troop that opened the second big hotel at Kaanapali, Maui, The Kaanapali Beach Hotel. We parted company shortly thereafter. I began work at KMVI Radio on Maui, she eventually married Don Over and lived 'til her death in Aina Haina, Oahu.
