Amanda Joy Michalka seriously started acting at the age of 9 when she landed the lead role in her church's musical,
Jailhouse Rock. She then immediately landed a national commercial on her first audition. She's been working non-stop since then making guest appearances on shows on FOX, CBS, HBO, ABC, WB, and NBC. Before she was an actress, she was a proffesional model who appeared on store ads, magazine covers, posters, and other things. She currently has a CD out with her sister,
Alyson Michalka, called
Into The Rush, on which she and her sister have written or co-written 12 of the 14 songs. She filmed a pilot for a TV series on Disney Channel with her sister called
Haversham Hall, but it was unfortunately not picked up possibly because of her busy schedule performing as Aly & AJ. Amanda also has a Disney Channel Original Movie called
Cow Belles also with her sister, which premiered on March 24, 2006 and was later released on DVD. Aly & AJ's movie for MTV,
My Super Sweet 16: The Movie, premiered on July 8, 2007 on MTV and their newest album
Insomniatic was released on July 10, 2007 along with the DVD for
My Super Sweet 16: The Movie.
