Dirk Bach was a German comedian who also worked as a television host and actor. He became his first role on a theater in Cologne in 1978 before working in places like Amsterdam, Brussels, London, New York and Vienna. In the early days of his career Bach became close to fellow comedian Hella von Sinnen. The two formed a lifetime friendship. In 1992, he became a member of the Cologne theater and was given his own show Die Dirk Bach Show on RTL. Later he was seen in the TV show Lukas, which run for five years, and Der kleine Mönch on ZDF. Next to continuing playing theater, Bach became a television host with the reality-show Ich bin ein Star, holt mich hier raus!. Other projects included Die Schillerstraße, Verbotene Liebe, Frei Schnauze and Power of 10. For years, Dirk Bach supported gay rights and himself made no secret of his homosexuality. However Bach never spoke about his heart problems which eventually lead to his shocking death on October 1, 2012 in Berlin.
